This past weekend was my 26th birthday! It was such a wonderful weekend, Andrew was so great. First he surprised me when I got home Friday night with the chicken pot pie he wasn't supposed to make until Saturday, and a yummy chocolate cake with ice cream. Everything tasted SO WONDERFUL, and it was such a sweet surprise!
I opened one of my presents that night. I got a bedside alarm clock with a CD player built in. Absolutely loved it! He knew it was hard for me to squint across the room to see the other alarm clock on the dresser, and I've mentioned before that I can't listen to music at night anymore since I don't have a CD player in my room. So he got it all in one, and I've used it every night since!
I knew we were picking up my "Be Mine" heart charm from James Avery on Saturday, we'd dropped it off awhile ago to have it engraved (I didn't let him tell me what he had engraved on it, I wanted it to be a surprise). What I DIDN'T know was that he'd dropped off my necklace I'd worn the charm on to be fixed (the clasp was broken), and so I got the complete necklace back! I was so happy, I'd missed wearing it! He had "2/14/09" engraved on it, since it was my Valentine's Day present earlier this year.
He also got me a smaller gift. A calendar for our kitchen. It's got a bunch of different vineyards and wine-related pictures in it. It's a BEAUTIFUL calendar and will look wonderful in our kitchen!
But my main present was a chi! My old straightener was starting to die a slow death, and it wasn't a very good one anyways. So Andrew bought me a chi, which I LOVE!!!! I slept on my straightened hair last night, and we could BOTH tell a difference this morning: my hair didn't look slept on or messy. In fact, I literally just ran a brush through it before I went to pay our rent. And it looks fabulous!
On my birthday, we relaxed at home in the morning. Andrew took me to get my hair cut, and then we went and saw Couples Retreat (not a typical slapstick comedy, but worth seeing). We have totally gotten into this Red Box movie renting thing, and so we'd rented a couple of movies to watch over the weekend: Observe and Report (stupid, but funny) and Revolutionay Road (DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT watch this movie...SUCH A WASTE OF TIME!!!!!!!!!!!). We went over to my parents' house on Sunday to visit and all of that. It was just very chill, very relaxing. A perfect weekend.
Now, my weekend is not quite over. I am off today, and I've taken the opportunity to scrub toilets and tubs, and do some laundry. A productive day, to be sure, but I am also going to take it easy this afternoon. Dewey's loving it that I'm here, so we're going to get some good play time in!
Andrew, thank you for making this the best birthday I've ever had. I love you so much!!!!!

Five Months Old
Dewey turned five months old this past Thursday. We love him so much, and he cracks us up on a daily basis. He still loves to play-bite, mostly with Andrew. They have SO MUCH FUN playing.

He gets bigger everyday, we're so amazed at how fast he grows! He used to fit so neatly in that space under our table, and now his little butt hangs out.

And he's starting to lose his baby teeth to make way for his adult teeth.

He's so NOSY. We were doing laundry, and laying out things that were going to be hung up when we went upstairs, and he just settled right in like we laid it all out for him!

And of course if Daddy has something, it must be for him, too!

He's so handsome! We love him to death, and he seems to be getting used to the camera. This first one is my new favorite picture of him!

It's been a wonderful three months that we've had you, Dewey! We look forward to the many years to come!

New Toy
So Andrew picked up this wonderful toy for Dewey recently. It's a long stick, with a bungi cord-type string on it, and at the end is this adorable little seagull with some fluffly feathers and a bell. Dewey absolutely LOVES IT!!!

He plays with it by himself, too. Just picks it up and runs around with it. Or if he gets bored playing by himself, he will bring it to Andrew or me. He's actually trying to get me to play with him right now, he's brought it up on the couch and is just waiting for me to play, hahaha!
Here is a video of him playing by himself with it on the stairs. So cute!!
Thanks for the toy, Daddy!! Good choice!

The rest of Jon's visit
I didn't get a chance to finish blogging about Jon's visit with us. Jon stayed through until that Tuesday night. Andrew and I absolutely loved having Jon in town! And even though he was very allergic to Dewey, he liked him (who couldn't?). And Dewey LOOOOOVED his Uncle Jon.

We tried a flea treatment that we'd gotten from the vet one night while Jon and Andrew were watching football, and we put it on wrong. The gel was all over his fur on his back, and he was able to reach around and lick it. We called an emergency vet and they told us to just give him a bath in Dawn soap and he'd be fine.
He LOVED his bath, he didn't fight it at all. We did the bath in the sink, which I think kind of weirded him out a little bit. He did great, though...until it was time to blow-dry him. He fought us so much, he acted like he had NO idea what we were doing. We finally just let him air-dry since he was being such a pain.

We all enjoyed having Jon here! Thank you for dinner and for staying with us, Jon!
