Memorial Day Weekend

Let me start off by saying...that was a TOUGH WEEKEND. Andrew left Friday afternoon to head up to Kansas to see some of his best friends in the world. The Marshalls (Jeff, Kat, Jeff Jr., and Audrey) are like family to him. I met them back in January when Andrew and I took our first trip together. They are SUCH a wonderful family!! I was very disappointed that I couldn't go with Andrew. But while he was off on Memorial Day, Sewell was WIDE OPEN to the 12 people that came in that day, haha. So he headed up to have a nice three-day weekend with the Marshalls. Andrew was very good, he remembered to take his camera with him and took some pictures. Friday night when he got there, they had Andrew's Famous Pizza...so jealous! Audrey was fascinated with Andrew's iPhone right away!

Saturday everyone hung around the house, playing with their sweet dog, Molly, and playing Uno.

Junior took it upon himself to swipe Andrew's camera and take a bunch of random pictures, which I found hilarious when I was looking at the pictures when Andrew got back.

Kat made breakfast every morning. She made these sausage links Saturday morning that she made while I was there in January. I am NOT a sausage fan, but these were so good. Andrew took a picture so we could get the same ones to make some morning.

Saturday night, they all went to the stock car races. This is something that they used to do all the time, they love it! They would go every Saturday to races in Mesquite when the Marshalls lived in Texas.

Sunday everyone just kind of chilled. Kat and Andrew went to the store, and Andrew found a really neat couch that he emailed and called me about. We're thinking about getting it. They grilled out hamburgers and hot dogs for dinner. Then later that night they stayed up until around 2:00 in the morning playing board games and hanging out.

All in all, he had a great time! He did call me every night, and at random points everyday as well. I think he missed me, JUST a little bit. But he had fun, too, which is good! He needed a break from working so hard lately!

Now to what I did all weekend. Friday night I went to TGI Friday's with Brandi and Sheri, from work. We drank WAY too much and Brandi and I had so much fun watching our waiter flirt shamelessly with Sheri (who could be his mother!). Saturday, I was up BRIGHT and early at 7:00am to get ready for my long day. Sara and I went shopping at the bookstore, went and got manicures and pedicures, and drove out to Grapevine. I had raved about the Delaney Vineyard, so Sara wanted to check it out. We also got to have lunch with Sara's mom and sister. I got to play with her sister's puppy, too. Tobi's a crazy little beagle. Sara's dad was sick and couldn't go with us to Purdy's for lunch. And since I didn't take picures, here are some pics of her parents and Tobi anyways.

After that, we had dinner at CiCi's with our friend Robyn. Then we all went to Target, and did MORE shopping. They did such a great job trying to distract me from missing Andrew like crazy.

Sunday I hung around the house for awhile, reading a book and relaxing. That afternoon Sara and I went to The Dump to check out this dining room table that Andrew and I liked a few weeks ago (it was still there!) and then we grabbed a bite to eat at Cheddar's.

Monday is when Andrew drove back, I had to work. It was the LONGEST DAY, I was in such a hurry to get out of there and get over to see Andrew. It was great to see him!!!

I hope everyone enjoyed their Memorial Day weekend!!

One last weekend post...

Alright, so I know I posted a freakishly long post earlier. But we had such a good time tonight cooking steak and potatoes that I wanted to blog again. What can I say, I'm a LITTLE addicted!

When we got home from dropping Jenny off at the airport, we decided to cook the steaks Andrew bought because we were hungry. We had stopped at the store beforehand, we needed to get the stuff Jacob needed to make some banana bread, and we got ice cream for mudslides (we did that before dinner).

Jacob was in charge of the mudslides...

But then Jenny called and Andrew stepped in to finish up. Great team effort, boys, the mudslides came out great!!

Andrew did a great job on dinner. We had steak and potatoes (I helped a little on the potatoes), and Andrew and I reheated some of the biscuits we had. Everything tasted so yummy!

Once we ate, I did all the cleaning up. Loaded the dishwasher, ran the load, and cleaned up the kitchen. Andrew was good, he thought of grabbing the camera to take a picture for the blog: I love him!! And this picture doesn't fully show it, but my lower arms got QUITE a bit of sun today...ouch!

Well that's it, I'm done blogging for the weekend! Having Jacob and Jenny here was a blast, and I know that Andrew is going to be sad to see Jake leave on Tuesday.

Hope all of you had as fabulous a weekend as we did!!

Weekend with Jacob and Jenny

Jacob and Jenny came in early Saturday afternoon from San Antonio. Unfortunately, they got rear-ended in their Enterprise rental car about a mile or two from Andrew's apartment. But everyone was alright, thank goodness! While we waited for them to drop off the rental car so we could all come back to the apartment, Andrew and I were being goofy in the car, playing with the camera.

Jacob brought a new video game for he and Andrew to play, Andrew was quite excited!

Like last time (although it was a little later in the day this time), the boys decided to do a shot of tequila.

Andrew and I had gone to the grocery store early Saturday and bought a brisket to make for them. I have never tried brisket, and it was something Jacob and Jenny really wanted. It smelled SO GOOD while it was cooking. We had potatoes to go with it, of course. We got a thick and spicy honey barbecue sauce to go with it, and I have to say...it was a lot better than I thought it would be!

We stayed in last night, just relaxing. The night started out with a couple of games of Scene It: 2nd Edition (Jake and Jenny won both games, she was freakishly good!).

Afterwards, Andrew made strawberry daiquiris for Jenny and me. They went to get slushes to put alcohol in here at home for themselves.

Then we watched Tropic Thunder, although Andrew and I turned in early. Jake and Jenny finished the movie and thought it was very funny! Today we got up and got ready to go to a festival in Grapevine called "Main Street Days". It was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL day, it couldn't have been more perfect weather! There wasn't a whole lot to do but walk around and people-watch, but there were some neat things going on. There were people doing cool stuff on trampolines, kayak lessons, glass blowing, and a little BMX setup. We stopped to watch the bike guys for a little while.

We stopped at the midway before we left. And we saw it...the SAME RIDE that I busted my camera riding last time. You couldn't have paid me to get on it, but Jake and Andrew wanted to get on it. Andrew handed over his iPhone so nothing would happen to it, though, haha! I got a video that gets them riding it. It'll make you a bit dizzy, just a warning!

They made it, though, and walked out of there in a straight line! Andrew did say he had a headache, though.

On the way to the car, we stopped in a parking lot across the street to look at some cars in front of the British Emporium. There was even a Rolls Royce there!

We decided to stop by a local vineyard on the way home, Delaney Vineyard. I wasn't too keen on going, but they really wanted to, so I smiled and just decided it would make a great blog post. But I ended up having a really great time! Our guide was Shirley, a little old lady with a lot of spunk! She told us the history of the vineyard, then took us to look around at the 10 acres of grapes they have harvested outside.

Then we went inside, as Shirley explained the process of fermenting the wine and aging it in the barrels. When we walked into the 5200 square foot barrel room, I was absolutely blown away. Andrew and I both thought the room was beautiful, and would be perfect for, say...a wedding reception??

Andrew and Jacob had paid to do a wine tasting at the gorgeous Italian granite bar they had in the barrel room. They really liked the wine they tasted, we walked out of there with four bottles of wine!

We all really enjoyed ourselves, we had a great time!

We all kind of crashed a bit when we got back. Andrew and Jacob, of course, got in a couple of games of basketball with their new game, Jenny took a nap, and I sat here blogging this incredibly long blog about our wonderful weekend!!

Jenny has to fly back to DC tonight, but Jacob will be here until Tuesday night. Andrew is off from work the next two days, so they're going to get to spend a lot of time catching up (and playing a ton of basketball games, I'm sure!).

We really enjoyed the weekend, thank you Jacob and Jenny!!
