Jacob and Paige were fascinated by the horn, too. I got a little video of Paige making a little noise every time I honked the horn for her.
Once we got the kids out of the car (they didn't want to go!), we headed to Addison. We got free parking, and we were pretty close to the entrance. We walked through for a bit, sizing up the booths. All of the best restaurants in Addison had booths there: Cafe Brazil, The Melting Pot, Chamberlain's, Blue Goose, Celebrity Bakery, and a TON more. We all got a slice of pizza from some pizza place we never heard of (but we want to go back and eat at the actual restaurant). I had a strawberry margarita from Cantina Laredo, which was really good.
At the Cafe Brazil booth, one of the things that they had were fruit crepes. When I asked what the fruit was, the guy told me they came pre-made and had a whole bunch of melons and stuff in with the strawberries, bananas, and other stuff. I said nevermind and started to walk away, but he was so nice and offered to make me some right then with the fruits I wanted in them. So I got strawberry banana crepes (which Andrew munched on, too, they were good).
Andrew got brisket tacos and Jacob got noodles from a Thai food booth. It was all so yummy!!
Andrew and Jake even competed in a "Pickle Crunch" contest. They had to crunch a pickle into a microphone, and whoever was louder won a free T-shirt. Jake was the winner, beating out Andrew and some other guy that joined in.
After we'd had enough to eat and drink, we went to the midway section to ride a ride. We chose The Sizzler. Ever seen that scene in Problem Child where he sabotages the spinning chair ride and they all throw up?? Yeah, that's what we rode on. Since no one was riding it, the guy let the ride go on about three times as long as a normal carnival ride. Our heads were all SO SORE by the time we got off. But it was fun at first!
After the ride, as we were heading out, I pulled out my camera to take a last shot of the festival. That's when I saw that at some point during the ride, I'd crushed my camera while it was in my purse, because the ride kept me pressed to the side of the little car (the side that my purse was on). The screen is busted, so I'm probably going to have to go buy a new camera. It was very, very upsetting to see my camera busted.
We had a fun weekend, though! Jake is heading down to San Antonio, and he'll be back next weekend with his wife, Jenny. We're trying to think of some things to do, we may try to get out to Six Flags.
I had a great time meeting Jake, and we are so excited to have him and Jenny stay with us next weekend!
Aw, man! Bummer about the camera! Not a bad excuse to get a new one, though! ;)
