I am SHOCKED to see the late Michael Jackson's family there: his brothers, his mother, his children. What an incredibly cool honor for the contestants!! Looking forward to the contestants doing AWESOME this week.
Josh is up first, could be a big flop for him if he's not super careful. He's playing the guitar for the first time in the competition. He's singing "Dirty Diana", which actually is one of my favorite MJ songs. I don't like it starting out at all, the chorus was a good rock interpretation. But the parts between the choruses was kind of lackluster, in my opinion. He was bound to have a bad week, I don't think this will send him home. "A" for effort in trying to make the song his own style. It didn't work, but he tried and was semi-successful. Just not enough...
Up next is Brian. I'm sickened to think about how he's going to mangle a song by such an iconic artist. He's doing "Black or White" and I was just as disappointed as I thought I would be. I'm disappointed that Simon and I disagree on this, we usually are of one mind.
Drew is up first for the girls. And I don't think she's doing anything different with Billie Jean. On American Idol, David Cook completely flipped this song on its ear by being slow-rockish. And he did it much better than Drew did. I actually agree with Paula and LA that JUST ONCE this girl needs to do something slightly more up-tempo. Even if it's something BARELY fast, like "Bubbly" by Colbie Caillet. I know she's wanting to showcase what kind of artist she plans to be. But to appease the judges and show America you're diverse: do SOMETHING different one time. But. I don't think she ever will.
Nicole is completely incapable of giving Simon's contestants a fair shake. She goes after something EVERY TIME just to get under Simon's skin. Simon gives her contestants credit when credit is due. ***ATTENTION FOX: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GET RID OF THAT JUDGE FOR NEXT YEAR!!!!***
Rachel is next, and I feel like Simon probably gave her something from YOUNGER Michael Jackson's repertoire. "ABC" or something. But I have no idea what song she's singing. Never heard it before. She looks cute, though, and she sounds pretty good. I think she's moving around a little too much, she doesn't seem used to bopping around AND singing just yet. "It's obviously anti-Simon night" was the understatement of the night. The judges aren't being fair, they want to bug Simon and they're going after two girls that are younger than 16. Just rude and immature. Simon's girls are all still here, so clearly he's doing SOMETHING right to help his girls. Nicole has one person left, Paula has none.
Marcus theoretically should do SO WELL this week, his voice will be suited to this sound. He seems like he's trying too hard. I started this show out with him being one of my favorites, he just blew me away. And I don't think LA has him living up to his potential. I was disappointed vocally (and the song choice could have been something MUCH better, HE should have sung "Black or White"), however I did think the choreography was a great tribute. I do like him, though, but I've gone into this week thinking that Marcus and Brian need to go home, they are the two worst singers at this point.
Chris is next, and I'm worried about him. He's singing "I'll Be There", and that's such a stretch for him. He's not that strong of a singer, and he can't hide in a song like that. I did love his little rap part, but I think this was an overall weak performance. I still love this kid and want him to be the last person standing in LA's group. I do have to say, every time before, when they've flashed to MJ's kids, they looked bored and unimpressed. But they were clapping along and seemed to be more animated while Chris was singing.
Melanie's closing out the show, and she's doing a song I only slightly recognize. Horrible song choices, for the most part. There are such AMAZING songs: "The Way You Make Me Feel" and "Man in the Mirror" to name two off the top of my totally tired head. That being said, Melanie's doing amazing. Sounds and looks incredible. I will be so shocked if she doesn't win this whole thing. Even NICOLE can't criticize it.
Two are leaving tomorrow night, hope America gets it right. It's nearly 1:00 in the morning, I'm going to bed. Good night, people!!

X Factor Performances and Results
Let's make this short and sweet, there's a lot to do tonight to get ready for tomorrow!
First off, LA's explanation as to why Brian "Astro" Bradley acted the way he did was lame-sauce. Totally. Moving on.
Rachel sounds incredible, and her video before about her dedicating the song to her adoptive parents was SO SWEET. I teared up, and it definitely reinforced my desire to adopt children some day. One of her best vocals since her original audition! Didn't know the song, but it didn't matter. LOVE HER!!
Marcus is thankful for his mother, and she sounds like a really remarkable lady. I thought it was sweet how she was trying not to cry while he was singing his Boyz II Men song. He sounded pretty good, too. Not my favorite song, but the words were sweet and I agree with his decision. Loved the pictures on the screen and the way he went over to sing to her. Tearing up again!!! I was warned this episode was a tear-jerker, and that's no joke! Full-blown crying now.
Steve The Angry-Aggressive Host manages to suck all genuine-ness (just invented a word, haha) out of a moment.
Melanie is giving thanks to the Lord, and I think that's really wonderful. Love her even more!! Interesting song choice, it's definitely one I have loved since the moment it hit the airwaves. She was singing it nice and soft in the beginning, showing good range. I think she could've done more with the bigger parts of the song, surprisingly. But overall I liked it. Also, how is it that I JUST noticed her slight accent tonight when she mentioned it??? Crazy!! She looks absolutely beautiful, also.
Oh, and I cried again. Sheesh!!!
Two people going home??? Nuts!!
Chris is giving thanks to his rehab sponsor. He's seven months sober, and I'm so proud of him!! (Just in case you were wondering? Crying again...) LOVE, LOVE, LOVE his song choice! Showing a different side, and I'm LOVIN' IT!!!!!!!!!! That's part of his first audition song, and it's his best yet! I would NOT be upset if this kid wins. He's such a role model!!
Lakoda Rayne is thanking everyone in their lives who supported them. Sweet videos. But the song choice?? Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me" doesn't seem to mesh with what they're supposed to be singing about. They sound okay, though. So whatever, I guess.
Leroy is thankful for his mom, who passed away within the last couple of years. He picked "Angel" by Sarah McLaughlin. Great song, but he rushed it at the beginning. It's just a shame that we're seeing him sing at age 60. I'm betting in his day his voice had even more soul than it does now, and he was probably REALLY good back then. And while I like him a lot and think he has a very decent voice, I just don't think he's strong enough as a singer. Love him, though. How could you not???
I think I'm done crying, I made it through his without crying.
Aw, look at Steve The Host trying to make jokes with the judges. Almost seemed genuine!
Brian is next. No one wants to end up in the bottom two. He's 15 years old, and he's not a small child anymore. He wants to be thrown into this grownup world, he can't act like that. I hope he means his apology, because it really made him look juvenile. I can't judge his performance, because I fast forwarded through his performance. I am sorry, I just don't like him. Hope he's next to go.
Drew is last from the girls, and she's thankful for her best friend!! I remember when my best friend and I were like that video...made me tear up, missing that closeness that you only get from being young and in high school and with your whole life ahead of you, before being a GROWNUP gets in the way. I think I may send MY best girlfriend a text to tell her I'm thankful for her. ANYWHO! Back to the song: loved it!! She didn't quite hit the big note she tried for, but I still loved it. Not sure why LA keeps picking on this poor girl. She looked really upset. OOOOOOHHHHHHH SNAP!!! Go Paula, stick it to LA!!!!!! PS, I love it when Simon says "rubbish"! =)
Last, but CERTAINLY not least, is my Joshy-Poo. He's thankful for his daughter, and I still say he doesn't look old enough to have a 13-year old kid!! He's such a sweet guy...great performance, I just love this guy. Will DEFINITELY buy his album.
Results time:
Automatically going home is...Lakoda Rayne. Not TOO disappointed, but I thought they did pretty good this week!
Brian is safe???? Totally disagree. I can at least comfort myself by knowing he won't win.
So it's between Marcus and Leroy. I think the judges will send Leroy home, but I like both and think it's a shame. And after Marcus sang, I don't think there's anything Leroy can do to save himself. Marcus gave a STUNNING performance.
LOVE the way LA completely ignored Steve The Angry-Aggressive Host when he was trying to wrap him up, haha! He won a point in my book, there! =)
Ooooh! Nicole ignored him, too! Get him!!!!!
Paula: "It's not that quick, Steve." The judges are fighting back!!!
You know, if they run out of time at the end, why have TWO guest star performances on the result show????? Get a grip, Fox.
There was a tie vote, so America's vote counts tonight: and that person is...Leroy. And as sad as that is, it's the right choice. Marcus was better between the two of them. But Leroy has more class and talent in his pinky finger than Brian "Astro" Bradley has in his whole body. Leroy should've been here one more week. He's a good singer and a great man. I wish him the best!!!
That's it, folks! Good night and Happy Thanksgiving!!

Our 1st Anniversary
365 days!! It's hard to believe that a whole year has gone by since Andrew and I got married. It's been a year full of ups and downs...
There's been family turmoil, a job lost, we've lost touch with people we were friends with, and we've battled some medical issues that are still partially ongoing for both of us. We lost a member of our family that we had just started to spend more time with.
We also bought a house, started a new chapter of our lives in a new area of the metroplex, and I got a new job that puts me in such a better place in so many ways. We are on a new path religiously that we both are SO EXCITED about, we are pretty sure we have found our new church home and we are looking forward to making new friends and getting involved with a church community group. We have reconnected with family members on my side that we feel SO blessed to have in our lives.
Through it all, Andrew and I have been learning the ins and outs of marriage. While it definitely takes work, we both feel like we are going strong and are communicating very well through everything. He's been so supportive of me through what has been an incredibly difficult year. He didn't even bat an eye when I lost my job and half of our income. He was super excited for the opportunity to get me into a better job where I could be paid better, where I could be recognized for all of the hard work I put in, and where I could enjoy what I did each day. He constantly encouraged me for the 3+ months is took to find such a job, and no one was more excited than him when I was offered the job at Fidelity.
I know that every woman thinks her husband is the best, and I'm no exception. I told him the other day that he should teach a class to men that sometimes make silly "mistakes" with their wives. Andrew listens to me and does so many little things based on the things I say to show me that he loves me and is thinking of me, and while that seems like such an obvious thing...I know from listening to other women that it's not the most common thing from the male population, haha.
Andrew...I can't even put into words how much I love you. You make every day so wonderful and I can't imagine where I would be today without you in my life. I've learned so much about myself since meeting you, and I have grown as a person as a result. I love you more and more everyday, and I cannot wait to celebrate many, many more anniversaries with you.
So!!! We had such a great anniversary weekend! Andrew ended up having to move all of his plans he had for us from Sunday to Saturday once he found out I wanted to just chill at home during the day on Sunday. We woke up Saturday and got dressed and ready for the day. We first picked up the cake from Romano's Bakery over in Dallas close to downtown, and then dropped it off at my sister's to sit in the fridge to save us from having to drive all the way home and come back out to Plano for our day of fun. She took a picture of us:

The kiddos were outside so we got to visit with them for a minute. They were playing around with bugs and freshly raked leaves.

Afterwards, we went to PF Chang's for lunch. That's where we had our very first date when we met in person. We had a really great time, ate some really yummy food, and just enjoyed the time together. After lunch, we went and browsed around a few shops. We stopped into Pier 1 Imports to check out their holiday decorations and ended up leaving with a Christmas present for someone! We've slowly been getting stuff here and there for the few people on our list, so it was great to cross one more thing off the list. Then we went across the parking lot to Lifeway Christian store to poke around. I've been sadly unable to locate my Bible, and it's been extremely upsetting to me. Plus I've been wanting Andrew to look around and see about getting himself a Bible. He didn't seem too interested, so I just picked up my own copy of The Chronicles of Narnia (they had ALL seven books in one and it was the "adult, unabridged" version!) and we left.
We stopped at Paciugo and I was able to get THE best gelato flavors ever: extra dark chocolate fondant with sea salt caramel to go with it. Those two flavors combined taste EXACTLY like my favorite candy by Harry London, and it was just heavenly to sit inside and enjoy that treat. We don't have a Paciugo near us, so we have to take advantage when we have an extra minute in the Plano area. Andrew got mint chocolate chip and amaretto chocolate chunk.
After that, we picked up the cake from my sister's house and headed home to put it in our fridge. We had about 30 minutes to waste before church started, so we went to a Kirkland's in Highland Village and found some real treasures! We found THE CUTEST countertop canisters, they were marked down a ton and were THE LAST ones there.

He and I have been having trouble agreeing on what we want on the counter as far as canisters go, and so we were relieved to get this set of three for under twenty bucks!
We also found an absolutely PRECIOUS picture for our bathroom that was under fifteen bucks. Here's a closeup of it, and then a shot of where we're going to hang it:

Then we went to church, it was our first time visiting The Village for a Saturday night service. It was very crowded, but the whole building was just FULL of people our age and we are feeling super encouraged about this place. They said that it's about to be registration to get into a home group, so we're anxious to visit their visitor's center next week to get some more information on that. The sermon that evening was PERFECT for us: they talked about marriage, and how husbands and wives are supposed to be towards each other and in their relationship with Christ. It also was centered around the holiday season, and how people can enjoy the commercialism of everything, but don't forget THE REASON for the season. We were given these Advent Guide workbooks to use each week, and we're really excited to get started on those next Sunday.
After church, Andrew found out that my anniversary present was finally ready, and so he dropped me off at a clothes store while he went to go pick it up. I was able to find a PRECIOUS dress at Lane Bryant (ON SALE for $24...unheard of!!) for the upcoming Christmas party at work. I still have to go back and get a cut little shrug since it's probably going to be chilly out by the time the party rolls around, but the dress is super cute: pics to come later.
So, drumroll for what Andrew got me as a gift (he made me open it immediately once I got done at the store)...he got me something that satisfied both the traditional paper gift AND the modern clock gift:

He got me a cute little picture frame that has a clock in it. It says "Anniversary" up the right side, and underneath the clock says "A time of reflection and celebration for God's many blessings of the past and a hope for the future."

And he got me something so wonderful for the paper...a new Bible. It's pink and it's soft and buttery and it has my married name impressed into it and the pages are lined with shiny silver and I just couldn't be anymore in love with it!!

Oh, and him not seeming interested in getting a Bible?? It's because he ordered HIMSELF one when he ordered mine, haha! What's funny is that the Bible I saw when WE were in there that I liked for him is the one he picked for himself! It's super handsome and SOOOOO fits him:

After I opened my gift (his is apparently on backorder, so he can't get it until next week, SAD!) we went to the movie theater for my surprise movie. I waited out of earshot while he bought tickets, and I made sure not to look around and catch sight of the showtimes. So I didn't know what we were seeing until it started: and it was the new FOOTLOOSE!!! I absolutely loved it, I thought it was a GREAT homage to the first one. They put a new spin on several of the songs, and even kept some of the dialogue the exact same. I knew that any actress would be better as "Ariel Moore" than Lori Singer was, she was terrible. So I loved Julianne Hough as Ariel. I was sure that no one could be as good as Christopher Penn as "Willard" and John Lithgoe as "Shaw", but I felt that Dennis Quaid and whoever played Willard (no idea who he was) did SUCH a great job! Andrew thoroughly enjoyed it, too. Totally awesome and I am in search of the soundtrack. =)
After dinner, we picked up Chipotle to-go (I'm now slightly obsessed), and enjoyed the rest of our evening at home. We got a good night's sleep, and today we were up before 9am. We went to Costco and Walmart to pick up food for our meal on Thursday, and we are thrilled not to have to go to the store this week to deal with crowds and empty shelves. The rest of the day, we have just chilled and rested. We hand-washed some champagne flutes so we could pop open a bottle of champagne that is the same as the one we had on our honeymoon. Dewey had a LOT of fun playing with the packing paper, haha.

Then he crashed beside me while I blogged, he has had so much fun being home with us today!

We FINALLY cut into the cake tonight! So beautiful, and so yummy! We never put our topper on at the wedding in all the hustle and bustle, but we did today! And it looked great!

Andrew popped open the champagne...

And so we had a yummy anniversary snack this evening!

It's been a great weekend, celebrating a really wonderful year together as husband and wife. Despite the emotional ups and downs from life's events, we are so happy together and so in love. Thank you to everyone for your support this past year, we love all of you so much and appreciate everything you all have done! I'd type more, but Blogger has been kicking me off and running super slow so I have to go right now, haha. Love you all, and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

X Factor Performance and Results
They started off showing the footage of Steve The Host berating Paula last week. I won't be surprised if there's a new host next season.
Anywho! Let's jump right in.
Leroy is up first. I think it's rude of LA to call the guy boring. He's not necessarily a very CURRENT-sounding singer, but he's a good singer and he's a likable guy. I think he sounded really good singing a Bob Seger song. I don't think guy will win and I don't think he'll do anything much when this show is over. But I like him anyways and I hope he makes it past some of the less talented artists that are on the show. I do agree with Simon that Nicole has given him the same kind of sound every time now. She needs to give him something DIFFERENT.
And Steve The Angry-Aggressive Host strikes again, he's being very rude. He needs to mellow out.
Little Miss Rachel is up next. Simon gave her a Rolling Stones' song...can we say pressure?? Haha. She has a chance to stand out and make such a statement with a rock song. Nicole thinks her age will keep her from "connecting" and I hope Rachel shows her where she can stick that statement. Okay: she's such a little cutie pie!! She looks so precious! And I think she's holding her own just fine. Looks like Nicole was proven wrong. =)
Chris goes next. It's not normally the kind of music I would listen to at all, but Chris made it alright. I wouldn't change the station if this came on the radio, so it can't be that bad. I just love this kid anyway, so I want him to do well. I want him to be the last one standing in his group. Simon is unfortunately right, though: it was way more reggae than rock.
***Sidenote, love Chris's shirt. =)
Stacy is singing a Meatloaf song? Sometimes I wonder if Nicole likes her contestants...and I don't think of this song as a Meatloaf song. I only remember Celine Dion's version. I am literally cringing as I type this. Her voice is just absolutely awful. That's the closest I've ever come to skipping past her singing. I heard that she went home (fingers crossed that I heard correctly) and if that is true then I see why. There wasn't a SINGLE good note in that song. She sounded absolutely awful. Nice lady, TERRIBLE voice. You KNOW she was bad because Paula finally was honest and gave a bad review. LOOOOOVE that Simon said her hair looked better this week, because the no-bangs look last week WAS awful. She's so cute with bangs. Big shock, Steve The Angry-Aggressive Host interrupts Simon. And I love that Simon kept on talking. Those two aren't BFF's like him and Seacrest were.
Melanie is doing REM. Not sure how that will go, but let's see...love the song, but she needs to rock it in some way. Just because REM is a rock band doesn't mean EVERY song they did is a rock SONG. I don't agree with giving her another slow song to sing. Simon should've given her "I Love Rock and Roll" or something. Plenty of female singers have rocked that song before. She sounds great, but it doesn't sound rock. It's got too much soul. No one is ROCKING this show. I am really ready to have someone come out rockin' and rollin' and setting the roof on fire. Sad that it wasn't Melanie.
Josh can rock it. He has the capability. He can do it. Hopefully Nicole didn't screw HIM over, too, with song choice. AND HE DELIVERS!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally!!!!!! I have nothing bad to say, he did great. =)
Brian is next. This is not a rock song, either. This is a HIP HOP song. A version of a rock song, yes. But it's not rock. He still sounds like a little boy. Don't understand how he's still here and the Stereo Hogzz are gone. He's even saying IN THE SONG that it's hip hop. Dislike. Big time.
***Another sidenote: Dear Contestants/Judges (except for Josh): YOU ARE NOT SINGING ROCK SONGS. It's "Rock Week". Please pick songs and song ARRANGEMENTS accordingly. Thank you.
The last group standing is Lakoda Rayne. They really have a chance this week to wow the judges and America. Hopefully Paula gave them a real rock song. I think her song choice was decent, the girls just aren't doing enough with it. I personally think since (so far) they are the only other group to sound even REMOTELY rock they deserve to stay.
Drew is singing U2. Rock band? Yes. But she needs to sing a ROCK SONG, not only to fit in with the theme but to do something different for HER. And she's not. I love this song and she sounds great singing it. But where is the CHALLENGE?? I'm extremely disappointed in almost ALL of the contestants and the judges this week. Rock Week shouldn't sound like this. Why make a theme if hardly anyone is going to stick with it??? Getting super annoyed with the blatant disregard for the theme.
Marcus is last up. He's bringing SOME rock to the show. Three acts of of ten embraced the theme. Sad. ANYWHO!!! I think he sounds really good, but there's a church-like sound to this with the backup singers. He should be singing this a few beats faster and have less backup singing with more electric guitar. And it would've been MUCH better.
Overall: extremely disappointed. Loved everything about Josh's performance, and everyone else frustrated me to some extent.
Let's get to the results and see if what I heard about Stacy was right:
The safe ones are...Leroy, Lakoda Rayne (yay Paula!!), Chris, Melanie, Josh, Marcus, Drew, and Rachel! FINALLY!!! America agreed with me, and the worst two in the competition are in the bottom two.
So that must mean that I heard right and Stacy goes home.
I have to say, I am annoyed at Stacy. Weeks ago she was offended to be considered a church singer, and has suddenly decided to ATTEMPT (key word there) to sing "Amazing Grace". I'm glad she goes home, what a bunch of hypocrisy. And terrible singing to boot. For once I think Brian deserves to stay. You're a nice lady, Stacy, but singing is NOT your thing.
And then Brian stepped out and tried to act like he shouldn't have to perform. What a smug little primadonna. I truly hope that the judges set him straight and bring him back down to reality. Listen up, Brian: like it or not, America put you in the bottom two, so that means that you have to "sing for your life". Rules of the show you signed up for. What a little punk, I'm sorry. I hope he goes next week, I can't believe he thought he didn't have to sing for his life, like it was beneath him. Can we lose them both????
No shock, LA picks Brian to stay and Nicole picks Stacy to stay (and Steve The Angry-Aggressive Host is rushing them, another non-shocker).
THANK YOU, SIMON!!! For calling out the attitude. Brian is just showing how immature he is, and I wish they had gotten rid of him purely for his attitude. That isn't how a 5 million dollar recording artist acts. He needs to get a SERIOUS grip and I hope his mentor and his mother pull him aside off-camera and tell him he needs to grow up.
Terrible week, I'm super disappointed in the way the show went. Glad Stacy went home, hoping America puts Brian in the bottom again next week because he doesn't deserve the opportunity he's being given with an attitude like that.

X Factor Performance Night
It's baaaaaaaack! I love this show, it's WAY better than American Idol was last season. Don't like that the judges pick the song choice, but other than that I love this show!
Simon's promising a "massive shock" from one of his contestants tonight? Will Drew sing a fast-paced song? Will Rachel slow it down like she did at Simon's house? Will Melanie NOT sing a power song??
The theme for the evening is Movie Night. They've done that on American Idol before and I am ALWAYS interested in that. LOVE the judges' entry song, haha!
HOW COOL IS IT THAT THEY GOT TO MEET ADAM SANDLER??????? And see other celebs at that premiere?? I actually want to see the movie, I have become a fan over the years!
Anywho! Up first is Stacy, and she's singing Whitney??? I think that's a little ambitious, she has more soul than power. Stacy really should keep her bangs. Her forehead is unfortunately quite large, and it ages her. And she's just not sounding like she did last week, and that was the best she's sounded. She's trying too hard, and it shows. Judges are going to rip her apart. And Nicole, for yet ANOTHER terrible song choice. Ay carumba...
Marcus is next. He's singing a girl power song. I don't think he sounds good, and I like this kid. The judges are killing this show slowly from within, haha, just with song choice.
Steve The Host is really trying to interact more. It just doesn't look natural. =/
And it's looking like Drew is the "massive shock" of the week. Let's see what Simon gives her...a new look, for one. Gave her a grittier look. No idea what she's singing. This isn't that big of a shock, she's singing a slow song again. I don't care for the song, but she sounds fine.
Leroy is next, singing a song from Runaway Bride. I'm pretty sure several of the songs on that are by the Dixie Chicks. Hopefully it's not country again, the sound doesn't suit him. But it's U2!! Much better, and I'm glad that Nicole let him have some say in what he's singing this week. Best he's sounded so far!! He's not the best singer in the competition by a LONG shot, but something about him just works.
How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days? Couldn't tell you a single song from that soundtrack. It's not exactly known for music. Paula couldn't pick a better movie?? Ugh. FINALLY, though, Paula's going with a country-pop song! That's what they SOUND like. A Keith Urban song...a good choice! I'm satisfied. I think this is the direction they should go. They're not bad!!
Oh boy. Brian is next. It bugs me that he's "writing his own lyrics" with a REAL artist's music in the background. He needs to be more original if that's the stance he's going to take. Be original, or sing Eminem. Pick one. Love how the crowd cheers at a comment about a pancreas. Pancreas, in a rap song?? I continue to NOT be impressed with this kid. America: PLEASE SEND HIM HOME. He needs to grow up a little before he tries this again, in my opinion.
This Is It? I am a little surprised he assigned her the late, great Michael Jackson, but we'll see how she does. She killed it on Desperado last week so I'm sure that she'll be fine this week. It's my favorite MJ song, as it were. She's doing a very good job! I like her other stuff better, but she sounds A-OK! =)
Stereo Hogzz are next. They really need to step up their game this week. Comeback week. And they're assigned a girl song...I love that they are kind of a throwback group, but modernized. But this performance is NOT good enough for a comeback. Dislike, Paula. Dislike. BUT!! Their choreography was much better, they looked way more unified.
Josh!!! He's got a Joe Cocker song, eh? Hmmm. Could be awesome. I'm intrigued...um. I hate this song. And I'm sorry, I don't think of this a Joe Cocker song. This is a Beatles song. I finally got my wish, he sounds GRITTIER this week!! He's doing a darn good job, I would listen to his version to this if I had to. Team Josh!!!!!!!!
Chris is next. He's doing a song from Dangerous Minds, and I hope that it's "Gangsta's Paradise"! And it is!!! I think he's doing the same thing Brian did, and I don't agree with that. BUT!! The difference is that he's not touting how he writes all of his own stuff, and "producing" his own stuff. Plus...this guy is a REAL rapper. Period. GO CHRIS!!!!
Rachel is last, and she's apparently the "shock". I'm glad to see she's been given a REAL song to sing! No sugary, bubblegum-pop stuff. This is a young Jordin Sparks, here. She's got a power voice, let the girl SING! And Simon did. Her hair is better, too. Get you some, Rachel, you ROCK!!! Last note gave me goosebumps. Love her!!!!
Curious to see the results tomorrow night...

X Factor: Results Show
So...I didn't get to this last night, haha. I'm sorry. Andrew and I were getting caught up on our mutual shows so we're not bogged down this weekend.
This should be a quick blog, so let's get started. Steve The Host seems to be smiling a bit more, that's good! He needs to loosen up and have fun with his job a little bit. Say what you will about Ryan Seacrest: he's a great host. He smiles and laughs and jokes around with everyone around him.
There's a twist?? The judges are the one sending someone home based on America's bottom two? Hmmm. I don't know that I like that. But oh well.
We're starting off with a performance by all twelve acts. Leroy Bell gave it away that they're lip syncing, haha. Except Brian, I think he wasn't, because he messed up. Overall, not a bad performance by everyone.
Some group called Outa Sight is performing before the results. It's clearly been awhile since I turned on my radio, haha, I have no idea who this is or what the song is. Sounds catchy, though.
Marcus is the first to be declared safe, and I'm obviously thrilled! Next is Drew, which I'm also thrilled about. Leroy is safe. So is Brian: not thrilled with that. I genuinely felt his performance wasn't the best. Lakoda Rayne is also safe, I'm happy about that. I think these girls will get better and better. Rachel is safe, which I'm relieved about. Chris is also safe. Josh is safe (thank goodness!!), as is Melanie. My top three are fine, and I'm happy about that. The last act safe is Stacy, and I was genuinely shocked.
So Stereo Hogzz and Intensity are the bottom two. I think Stereo Hogzz should stay.
Stereo Hogzz are singing Beyonce's version of "Emotions", and they sounded pretty good. Their harmonies could've used a TINY bit of work. But I like this group. I think they did enough to stay. Unless Intensity just blows me away. They come out singing "My Life Would Suck Without You". They sounded good until the guy started singing the second half of the song. He fell flat BIG TIME. They're talented kids, but I think this may be the end of the line for them.
Simon votes to send Stereo Hogzz home...kinda shocked. Paula's vote is to send Intensity home, that has to be tough for her. Nicole votes to send home Intensity as well. LA Reid's vote is for Intensity, and that's unfortunately the right call.
So that's it until next week! =)

"The Boy Who Came Back From Heaven": A True Story
This book has had my mind going, and I haven't even finished the book, yet. Apparently, there's a similar book called "Heaven Is Real", but I have not read that one. I wish everyone could read this book I'm reading!!! It's LITERALLY caused me to stop and put the book down to process things I'd read or so I could pray. It's MOVING me. My journey has been sort of a late-blooming type, if you will. I didn't go to church growing up. No Sunday school, no discussions on God and the Bible and faith. My sister was really the first one of us to break out of that cycle and be saved.
And I admit to all of you now: I thought she was a nutcase back then. I didn't understand the scripture she spoke of. I wasn't used to being around people that regularly used "Jesus", "God", or "Lord" in daily conversations. I certainly wasn't used to living a Christian life. So I thought she was weird, something that I couldn't relate to.
I realized some time ago that I was misunderstanding her, and religion in general. But it hasn't been until very recently that things have REALLY started to take shape for me. I have always "believed" in God, without always knowing what that meant. I prayed practically daily as a teenager, I can honestly say He was a part of my life at that point and always since. I know He has always done His "part" in our relationship, but I've never truly lived up to my end of the deal of being a Christian. I have sinned. A lot. In ways I never really looked at before now.
Something my mother said to me recently really hit home. We had a conversation to get our relationship back on track. I made it clear that I didn't want her bad-mouthing people I cared about to me, it was something that had always upset me. Not too long after, I was telling her about something that happened back in March of this year, where Andrew and I had a falling out with one of his brothers over something that brother's wife and her best friend had done. I was ranting about how much I couldn't stand them and how awful they were, and my mother pointed out that I was just doing the very thing that I had asked HER not to do. And it has had me thinking. I'm so used to saying awful things about them every time these two women came up that I didn't think anything of it. I tossed the word "hate" out a lot, and I use that word in so many other aspects about people and things in life. And it was then that I wanted to change not only the way I spoke about those women, but the way I FELT about them. Do I still dislike what they did?? Of course. I really think they are to be pitied for the way they treat people and the way they live their lives. But I shouldn't hate them. I actually am wanting to remove that word from my vocabulary. I need to pray for them, genuinely pray for them. And I did. At one point while reading this book, I put the book down, tilted my head, and I prayed. I cried while I prayed, because I realized that this is the way I needed to see things.
Today, my brother-in-law Zach called, and we somehow got to talking about what had happened back in March with these two women and his and Andrew's brother. And it really was the first time I'd talked about it without getting angry, without feeling strong feelings of dislike towards the women. We talked for nearly an hour, mostly about religion and how we're both on journeys that are taking us closer to the Lord.
He and his wife have found a church in Georgia since moving in April, and they have found a community group through that and friends that are Christians. It's been a relatively new experience for them, and last night they were both baptized in their new church. I am so proud of them, and so happy that they are on the right path. I've contemplated over the last few years that maybe I should be re-baptized. I was baptized when I was in the ninth grade, only because I was made to. It was the "right" thing to do. But it wasn't my choice, and I didn't WANT to do it. I didn't understand what it meant, and I didn't do it because I wanted to with my whole heart.
So I would like to find a church to join, where we can meet people that are Christians and be surrounded by fellowship and love the way so many people we know are. I want to have a pastor that I can sit down with and ask questions as I learn more about the Bible. I've never read it completely, I've read small pieces here and there. I want to have friends that can quote scripture and have long discussions with them about things I read and think about. I want to finally be able to speak about the Lord without fearing people will think I'm a freak, the way I used to think about people who talked like that. I love it when others pray before a meal, and I would love to get comfortable enough to lead my OWN prayer someday without feeling like people were judging me for it. Between this book, my mother's comment, Zach and Holly's baptism, and the example my sister and her family set forth on a daily basis...I am ready. I don't feel weird talking about it anymore. I want to soak up as much knowledge as I can. In fact, I fully plan on tearing my house apart until I find the box that has my sadly under-read Bible in it so I can start today to rectify how little it's been used.
I haven't told Andrew, yet, but we WILL be going to church for the first time in a few months this weekend. He will be thrilled, I know he's missed it as much as I have. I have just been scared at what finding a new church means. I'm not scared anymore, I cannot express in words how excited I am at what it means.
Thank you Zach and Holly. Thank you Kevin and Alex Malarkey, though you'll never read this. Your story has TRULY opened my eyes.

X Factor: THE LIVE SHOWS START!!!!
To say that I'm super excited for America to make the calls from now on is an understatement. I probably won't get to vote much this season, since Andrew's not watching this show and I won't always get to watch it the night it happens. But I feel confident that America will make some good choices. There's only three or four people/groups I don't agree with in the top 12, and that's awesome for me! The chance of someone I like winning makes me SO HAPPY!!
So here I am, curled up with a glass of water, a little Halloween candy, and my laptop: ready to get started! So let's go...
The judges look good! Simon looks as hot as ever, LA looks classy, the girls are sparkly. I'm really hoping the performances are great.
First of the night are the Stereo Hogzz. Looking forward to them, definitely my favorite group in the competition. They didn't start off that great, something sounded off. The choreography looked like it was SUPPOSED to be good, but I thought they weren't as tight as they could've been with it. I don't know what song they are singing, but I guess that's alright. They have lots of energy, their sound is better with the song picking up. All in all, I think they did good. The judges really need to be careful and pick songs America will recognize and like. I don't know if they sang the song the way it was originally sung or if they changed it up and rocked it in a way it's never been rocked before, you know? I love it when artists change songs up, and I don't know if these guys did or not. The judges were happy, so I'm glad. They are a great group.
Next we have Chris. I was shocked at the song choice...a Carpenters song??? Instantly I was intrigued...oh, then he changed to something else for a rapping portion, but he brought it back to "Superstar" for the choruses. I have to say, it wasn't bad! I liked it more than I thought I would! I would buy that song! I thought he looked great, too. It was nice to see him without the hat. The judges all seemed pleased with his performance, so that was good. He did a really great job!
Look at Steve The Host!! Trying out some banter with Simon!! It fell flat, but 'A' for effort!
Leroy is up. He's singing a country song, "I'm Already There." He's singing it great, but my big question mark with Leroy is that I don't know what kind of artist he's wanting to be. He's clearly not pop. He's not country. Paula hit the nail on the head, he sounds like Michael Bolton. But as much as I love Michael Bolton, he's not current or very popular anymore. I'm confused about WHO this guy is. That being said, he did okay on the song. He sounded really good. But I think this guy needs better songs to figure out who he is. I love that Simon calls Nicole out, and it clearly upsets her. And what the heck is she wearing on her hand?? It's a silver bracelet looking thing, but it's sitting just below her fingers, above her thumb. Celebrities wear the weirdest things sometimes.
Bit of news: X Factor will be back next season. Maybe we can replace Steve The Host and Nicole???
My little Rachel is next. I just love this kid!! She's singing one of my FAVORITE songs to bop to (yes, I said BOP) in the car. "Walking on Sunshine" is such a fun song. And she's changing up the song??? Not sure why, I don't like that. Don't like the way she looks, either. Plus she's not being given songs that give her more power moments to show off what she's got. She did okay, but I think she did WAY better with her very first audition and the one where she was singing at Simon's house. Paula agrees with me about wanting songs to show her range. "Nicole, grown-ups are talking." HAHAHA! Love Simon...
Lakoda Rayne is up next. They're representing the seasons?? Kinda strange...but it's not their fault and it shouldn't be held against them. At least it just means they're in different colored dresses with pictures behind them. They're singing "Landslide", which I believe the Dixie Chicks did a version of. I wish these girls would go down that road. I think it would change their sound in a drastically GOOD way. But they sounded pretty good. These girls do a good job as a group, I don't dislike them.
Was it just me, or did Steve The Hose look really creepy and when he told Simon he needed glasses, and then LEERED at the girls?? Haha!
Josh!!! I'm really wanting Nicole to give him something better this week. Opening video shows she gave him a song that doesn't relate to him at all. I really don't like what Nicole brings to the table. I really hope she's gone next season. "Jar of Hearts"? Not necessarily a "girl" song, but not a Josh song. I think he did everything he could with it, he sounds good all the time. He just needs something grittier, he has that kind of voice. Very Chad Kroeger-ish. (Sidenote, why does Nicole cry EVERY time her contestants sing??? Even Paula's not that dramatic...) At least the judges all loved him, hopefully America did, too. I think he did great, but he hasn't really had a "moment" since his first audition. I want an epic performance from him because he's capable of one.
Melanie is next, and I couldn't be happier that this lady is in the competition!! She's being challenged this week, by singing a song that ISN'T a Mariah/Whitney type song. That's hilarious. "I'm going to challenge you be giving you a less hard song to sing." What a compliment for her!! She's singing "Desperado", and I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love this song. I've turned it on more than once in a moment of sadness over the years. And I flippin' LOOOOOOOOVE what Melanie's doing to it. She's injected her power voice into it, and she sounds amazing. America will be so wrong if they don't put this girl through to the end to win it. She's exquisite. And she looks so beautiful!!! Just love her. My favorite!!
Lord help me. I knew Brian would be up at some point tonight, but I don't have to be happy about it. I just don't think this kid is READY to be a rap star. "Get the beat on"? Nope. This kid just SOUNDS juvenile, and to me rap is a grown-up thing. Simon turned on me...I disagree 110%. This kid just doesn't cut it for me.
Intensity is up next, and I didn't really agree with them being put through. They don't want to be thought of like Disney kids?? Well newsflash, boys and girls: that's what you SOUND like. Either embrace it, or try to be something you're not and fail spectacularly. I love the way they look, the outfits are awesome. But they sound very High School Musical. I disagree with the "Glee" comparison, I don't think they are THAT good, and they certainly aren't all good on their own. Ellonna is amazing, but to me that's about it. They have high energy, though, and I see kids really getting into this group. For me, it's not my taste. I think they are the weakest of the groups, though.
Drew. No doubt in my top three favorite contestants. I'm worried that Simon's going to give her something faster since she really only does slower songs. I'm glad to see she's sticking with a slow song, and she does pick it up a little bit. She sounds great, I have no idea what she's singing, though. She couldn't be any more adorable if she tried!!! Her voice is just so pure and clear. I love it. Ohhh. It's a Nelly song. I do remember that song now. I agree with Nicole, actually, Drew absolutely COULD guest sing with Eminem on a track. She did such a great job!!
Marcus is singing next, and I just love this kid. I don't know anything about Bobby Brown as an artist but I agree with Simon after Marcus got going in his song. I don't think we need another Bobby, because this is the first time Marcus hasn't seemed that great, this kid has something more in him. He didn't sound very current. He has a great voice, and I worry about what LA Reid is doing to him. I feel like Marcus needs to be a Bruno Mars or Taio Cruz kind of singer. Simon ended up liking it, but I think Marcus could be so much better if they had him go down a different path.
Last up is Stacy, and I just KNEW at the top of the show that this diva would be put last. I do not agree with her being here anymore. Nice lady, I just don't like her voice anymore. I have to admit, her lower tone is very nice. And she exerted a lot of control on her bigger notes at first. But then she tried to do some runs at one point and it sounded terrible. Her voice is not as good as she thinks it is. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one with that opinion. This WAS one of her better performances, though: Simon was right. Church-singer. Why is she offended by that? I'm actually kind of annoyed and offended that she thinks that church music is beneath her. It really made me like her even less to hear her say she was offended.
Well, that's it for the performaces. The results are tonight. I really feel like Brian, Intensity, Stacy, and Rachel were the worst from their categories. Of those, I truly feel like Brian was the worst. We'll see what America thinks. I'll probably blog the results tonight, so if you like this show and don't plan on watching tonight, don't check my blog tonight. =)
