It's baaaaaaaack! I love this show, it's WAY better than American Idol was last season. Don't like that the judges pick the song choice, but other than that I love this show!
Simon's promising a "massive shock" from one of his contestants tonight? Will Drew sing a fast-paced song? Will Rachel slow it down like she did at Simon's house? Will Melanie NOT sing a power song??
The theme for the evening is Movie Night. They've done that on American Idol before and I am ALWAYS interested in that. LOVE the judges' entry song, haha!
HOW COOL IS IT THAT THEY GOT TO MEET ADAM SANDLER??????? And see other celebs at that premiere?? I actually want to see the movie, I have become a fan over the years!
Anywho! Up first is Stacy, and she's singing Whitney??? I think that's a little ambitious, she has more soul than power. Stacy really should keep her bangs. Her forehead is unfortunately quite large, and it ages her. And she's just not sounding like she did last week, and that was the best she's sounded. She's trying too hard, and it shows. Judges are going to rip her apart. And Nicole, for yet ANOTHER terrible song choice. Ay carumba...
Marcus is next. He's singing a girl power song. I don't think he sounds good, and I like this kid. The judges are killing this show slowly from within, haha, just with song choice.
Steve The Host is really trying to interact more. It just doesn't look natural. =/
And it's looking like Drew is the "massive shock" of the week. Let's see what Simon gives her...a new look, for one. Gave her a grittier look. No idea what she's singing. This isn't that big of a shock, she's singing a slow song again. I don't care for the song, but she sounds fine.
Leroy is next, singing a song from Runaway Bride. I'm pretty sure several of the songs on that are by the Dixie Chicks. Hopefully it's not country again, the sound doesn't suit him. But it's U2!! Much better, and I'm glad that Nicole let him have some say in what he's singing this week. Best he's sounded so far!! He's not the best singer in the competition by a LONG shot, but something about him just works.
How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days? Couldn't tell you a single song from that soundtrack. It's not exactly known for music. Paula couldn't pick a better movie?? Ugh. FINALLY, though, Paula's going with a country-pop song! That's what they SOUND like. A Keith Urban song...a good choice! I'm satisfied. I think this is the direction they should go. They're not bad!!
Oh boy. Brian is next. It bugs me that he's "writing his own lyrics" with a REAL artist's music in the background. He needs to be more original if that's the stance he's going to take. Be original, or sing Eminem. Pick one. Love how the crowd cheers at a comment about a pancreas. Pancreas, in a rap song?? I continue to NOT be impressed with this kid. America: PLEASE SEND HIM HOME. He needs to grow up a little before he tries this again, in my opinion.
This Is It? I am a little surprised he assigned her the late, great Michael Jackson, but we'll see how she does. She killed it on Desperado last week so I'm sure that she'll be fine this week. It's my favorite MJ song, as it were. She's doing a very good job! I like her other stuff better, but she sounds A-OK! =)
Stereo Hogzz are next. They really need to step up their game this week. Comeback week. And they're assigned a girl song...I love that they are kind of a throwback group, but modernized. But this performance is NOT good enough for a comeback. Dislike, Paula. Dislike. BUT!! Their choreography was much better, they looked way more unified.
Josh!!! He's got a Joe Cocker song, eh? Hmmm. Could be awesome. I'm intrigued...um. I hate this song. And I'm sorry, I don't think of this a Joe Cocker song. This is a Beatles song. I finally got my wish, he sounds GRITTIER this week!! He's doing a darn good job, I would listen to his version to this if I had to. Team Josh!!!!!!!!
Chris is next. He's doing a song from Dangerous Minds, and I hope that it's "Gangsta's Paradise"! And it is!!! I think he's doing the same thing Brian did, and I don't agree with that. BUT!! The difference is that he's not touting how he writes all of his own stuff, and "producing" his own stuff. Plus...this guy is a REAL rapper. Period. GO CHRIS!!!!
Rachel is last, and she's apparently the "shock". I'm glad to see she's been given a REAL song to sing! No sugary, bubblegum-pop stuff. This is a young Jordin Sparks, here. She's got a power voice, let the girl SING! And Simon did. Her hair is better, too. Get you some, Rachel, you ROCK!!! Last note gave me goosebumps. Love her!!!!
Curious to see the results tomorrow night...
Still pulling for all the young girls. Most of the rest don't interest me except for Chris and Josh. Good job, Jamie!
